Dear Westlake Parents and Guardians:
This is the last full week of school! We start the week off with a blast of color at our Color Fun Run. If your child is interested in attending this very fun event and they aren’t registered yet there is still time. We are taking day of registrations for $30. Please consider having your child participate as this event is one you don’t want to miss. Information about the Color Fun Run is below.
Did you know the 2019 WLMS PTO Color Fun Run Registration is open?? This exciting event is taking place on May 13th, during school hours in the afternoon. We are raising money to support technology needs for WLMS. The Color Fun Run is a very fun event and students can choose to walk, run, skip, dance, whatever moves them! No distance is required. All we ask is that students wear white or light colors and be prepared to gl which is so hard to believe! There are many exciting events coming up including the Color Fun Run! If your child isn’t registered yet please consider getting them registered as this event is a great deal of fun. Last year I so enjoyed watching and engaging in the color blasts and just enjoying the fun of the event! This is a fundraising event which goes to supporting technology replacement and improvement at our school. We are so grateful for our PTO in putting on this event and supporting our school. It makes a difference in the lives our students!

Assistant Principal Opening (repeat)
Our Assistant Principal, David Weisbart, will be leaving us at the end of this school as he has accepted a position in another district. Mr. Weisbart has been not only a wonderful administrator at Westlake Middle School, but has given much of his career to Adams 12. We wish him the best in his future and are grateful for the time we’ve been able to spend with him at Westlake!
We will be engaging in interviews in the next couple weeks to find our next Assistant Principal to join our school community. Parents have been asked to be in the interview committee itself and I would love to have your input around the attributes you would like to see in the next Assistant Principal we hire. End of Year Awards Events and Last Days of School Schedule (repeat)
Every year, our staff select students to receive awards for various demonstrations of success at Westlake. The Awards Ceremonies for each of the grade levels are on the dates below:
Wednesday, May 22nd
- 8th Grade Awards Ceremony at 9am
- No school for 6th and 7th graders; last day for 8th graders
Thursday, May 23rd
- 7th Grade Awards Ceremony at 8:45am
- 6th Grade Awards Ceremony at 11:00am
- No School for 8th graders

Summer School Closure and 2016 Bond Project Update (repeat)
Thanks to our voters, Westlake will be receiving the bulk of the 2016 Bond Project this summer! The designs for various parts of the building look amazing and I’m so excited for you all to see the results! Outstanding Student Fees
If your child has outstanding fees on their student account it will be important to take a look a pay the fees or make arrangements for payment. Outstanding fees may cause delays in high school registration if you still have middle schools fees.

Dr. Heide, Principal Westlake Middle School
Westlake is welcoming a new club for students at Westlake. We have partnered with Community Sailing to provide students the opportunity to learn about the science behind sailing and then get a chance to get out on the water at Boulder Reservoir. The club will meet at Westlake on Mondays starting on April 22nd from 4pm-5pm. There is a $15 fee for this club, however, we can help with the cost if there is a need. Please stop by the office for a flyer or reach out to Dr. Heide with questions.
shine and show what they know…..which is a lot! We are excited to support our students around CMAS and look forward to seeing the huge amounts of progress they have made over the year. We want students to do their best and we also want them to not feel unnecessary stress around testing. Please take a moment to click on the article link below about testing tips and review the 7th grade CMAS testing schedule for this week. If possible, please make every effort to have your child at school for testing as make-up testing can be challenging. We certainly understand illness occurs and if your child is sick please keep them home.
