Dear Westlake Parents and Guardians:

It’s hard to believe that the groundhog predicted an early Spring with all the Winter weather we have had lately.  As a reminder, students are welcome to come into the cafeteria at 7:45am so encourage your children to come inside especially on the cold mornings.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences are this week on Wednesday, February 12th from 4:00-8:00 pm and Thursday, February 13th 1:00-4:00 pm. If you haven’t done so already please click HERE to access the sign-up for a conference time.  If you have any questions about conferences please let us know.  In addition to our regular conference set up we will also have a table set up for resources and support around mental health.   We look forward to seeing you at conferences!

State Standardized Testing Coming Soon!

CMAS testing is coming up in April. These assessments are an important way for us to get information about how our students are learning and meeting state standards.

• All grade ELA and Math testing will be on April 2nd, 3rd and 6th.

• 7th grade Social Studies testing will be on April 21st through the 22nd.

• 8th grade Science testing will be on April 21st through the 22nd.

The full schedule, with times, will be posted on our website by the end of March. We ask that you please keep these dates in mind when scheduling any appointments that might keep your student out of school. If you choose to not have your child participate in CMAS testing you will need to fill out and return this form to the main office. We thank you for your cooperation and partnership in this effort!

Help us serve you better | Take the annual Family-School Relationships Survey

In an effort to help us continually elevate your child’s educational experience, I encourage you to take our annual Family-School Relationships Survey! The survey is specific for our school and will help us know where we are succeeding and where we can improve.

Why is the survey important and what do we do with the data? Watch as principals from across our district explain what the survey means for their school community.

• The survey is open from Jan. 27 to Feb. 19, 2020 and is completely anonymous.
• The survey is expected to take between 5-10 minutes and can be taken in English, Spanish or nine other languages on your smartphone, tablet, computer or via paper (talk with your school office for a paper copy).  
• If you have children at different schools, we encourage you to fill out a survey for each school. 
• Survey data is benchmarked nationally and compared to the Five Star staff and student survey to create a comprehensive understanding of the school’s culture and climate. Survey results will be made available to families by the end of the school year.

Welcome our new Office Clerk!

Please welcome Janet Salas to our Westlake school community!  Ms. Salas started with us in January so you may have already had the opportunity to meet her.  She has been an excellent addition to our team and we are so glad to have her at Westlake!
